I don’t know about you, but my skin is crazy. It’s the epitome of ‘combination’. By 11AM I’ve got enough grease to rival McDonald’s, with the added blessing of dry patches. Wanting to see if I could avoid spending a silly amount of money on a foundation, I tested Wetnwild’s Photo Focus foundation. Here’s what happened!
I’ve been at war with giant pores since I was 12, and still haven’t won a single battle.
I’ve tried so many foundations, ranging from drugstore to high end, from L’Oreal and Maybelline, to MAC and Smashbox.
My current everyday foundation, which I’ve repurchased about 3 times, is Estée Lauder’s Double Wear. It’s a pricey one, averaging about €40 a bottle, but it does the job and has real staying power. I usually get it from The Beauty Club, Franks, Grognet Pharmacy (Mosta) or even feelunique.com.
Really, my favourite foundation I’ve ever used is Studio Skin by Smashbox. I replaced it with Double Wear as Smashbox isn’t available locally unfortunately and it’s slightly more expensive.
I recently saw a couple of videos on Youtube comparing Estée Lauder Double Wear to Wetnwild Photo Focus. After doing a little research, I discovered Photo Focus retails for a whopping €6.99. Worth a try, no?
So that’s what I did and I have to say, I was somewhat impressed. I wasn’t sure where to find the brand, so I contacted the local distributor and they sent me the below map of places to find Wetnwild. I ended up getting mine from Valyou Supermarket.
Here’s a little breakdown, comparing the two:
Estée Lauder Double Wear
- Price: €40
- Amount: 30ml
- Coverage: Full
- Drying time: Within 30-60 seconds
- Dried feel: Matte and smooth
- Staying power: 12+ hours
- Shade range (available locally): Decent [20+]
- Overall rating: 9/10
Wetnwild Photo Focus
- Price: €6.99
- Amount: 30ml
- Coverage: Medium
- Drying time: Within 1-2 minutes
- Dried feel: Slightly sticky, but smooth
- Staying power: 9+ hours
- Shade range (available locally): Poor
- Overall rating: 7/10
Both were applied with a damp beauty blender and the results are from my own personal experience.
Final verdict? Wetnwild Photo Focus did a pretty good job and is a great affordable foundation for those who don’t want to spend too much. BUT I think I’ll be sticking to my Estée Lauder Double Wear, as it handles oiliness throughout the day a bit better. #byebyemoney
